Botallack mine, on Cornwall’s rugged north coast, is one of many in the area, and the two engine houses seen here, The Crowns, cling precariously to the base of the cliff. The mine produced tin, copper and arsenic over a period of 100 years before being abandoned in 1914. Much of the BBC TV series ‘Poldark’ was filmed around this area.
